This policy explains how Clearbridge Business Solutions (“Clearbridge”, “we”) uses cookies and similar technologies on clearbridge.ca, and the choices you have. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal information generally.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as tracking scripts and pixels, work the same way for the purposes of this policy, so we call all of them cookies here. Some are set by us (first party) and some by the services we use (third party).
Your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice. Nothing optional runs until you choose. You can pick:
- Necessary only: the site works, and nothing is used for analytics or marketing.
- Accept all: the Analytics and Marketing cookies below are switched on.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link here or in the footer of every page. If you change from Accept all to Necessary only, we delete the analytics and marketing cookies your browser lets us reach and reload the page so their scripts stop. We keep your choice for 180 days, then ask again. We also ask again if this policy changes in a way that affects your choice.
Necessary cookies
These keep the site secure and working. They are always on, because the site cannot work properly without them, and they are not used to track you.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
cb_consent | Clearbridge | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask on every page. | 180 days |
_GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Protects our forms from spam and automated abuse. Set only on pages with a form. | 6 months |
wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* | Clearbridge (WordPress) | Keeps Clearbridge staff signed in to manage the site. Not set for visitors. | Session to 1 year |
Analytics cookies
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages are useful, how visitors find us, and whether our forms and contact options work. We look at this information in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not use it for advertising unless you also accept Marketing.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another, without identifying anyone. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit. | 2 years |
Marketing cookies
With your permission, we use these to measure our campaigns and to connect a visit with an enquiry you send us, so we can follow up properly.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: measures how our LinkedIn campaigns perform and builds aggregate audience reports. LinkedIn may use it to show you relevant ads on LinkedIn.
- HubSpot: our customer relationship system. It links the pages you visit to the details you give us in a form, so our team has context when we reply.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
__hstc, hubspotutk | HubSpot | Recognises a returning visitor and connects visits to a submitted form. | 6 months |
__hssc, __hssrc | HubSpot | Tracks the current visit. | 30 minutes / session |
li_fat_id and LinkedIn cookies such as bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory | Measures campaign results and supports LinkedIn ad audiences. | Up to 1 year |
Third-party providers can change their cookie names and durations. Their own policies are the authority: LinkedIn Cookie Policy, HubSpot Cookie Policy, How Google uses cookies.
How we pass your choice to Google
We use Google Consent Mode in its basic form. Google's tags do not load at all until you accept Analytics. When they do load, we tell Google exactly what you agreed to: analytics measurement on, and advertising storage and personalisation on only if you also accepted Marketing. No Google measurement or advertising tag runs before you make a choice. (Our forms' spam protection and the site's fonts are also provided by Google. They are necessary for the site to work and set no analytics or advertising cookies.)
Content from other services
Some pages include a Google Maps map of our office. When the map loads, Google may set its own cookies under Google's policies. You can use the rest of the page without interacting with the map.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site, such as our forms, from working. Browser settings apply to every site you visit, so the banner is the simplest way to control cookies on ours.
